MRS W BRIDAL

WEDDING DRESS JOURNEY

Who is the MRS W bride...?

She is kind but fearless. She is cool but down to earth. She is confident but not pretentious.

You’ve been scouting out MRS W BRIDAL on the gram, have booked your appointment at our Northern bridal studio in Whitley Bay and potentially already fallen in love with one of our designer gowns (it’s hard not to) but what’s next? Luckily for you, this month’s blog post has been thoughtfully compiled to let you know exactly how the signature MRS W BRIDAL wedding dress experience works. From the moment you click the ‘Book’ button to those very final alterations...

At MRS W BRIDAL we’re all about creating a relaxed, effortlessly luxurious and truly welcoming vibe for our modern brides to flourish within. From indulging in our complementary macarons and Prosecco to exploring the international designers that hang from our rails in our minimalist North East bridal studio, at MRS W we care about the details and want our brides to have a truly seamless - and highly memorable - bridal experience, the MRS W way.

When to book your MRS W BRIDAL appointment...

We recommend brides order their wedding dress a minimum of 8-10 months before their wedding date. Our made-to-order gowns can take anywhere from 4-7 months to be made. We then suggest 2-3 months for alterations.

How to book your appointment...

At MRS W, fittings are by appointment only. Simply head to our website and book yours via our online booking system. When it comes to guests, we kindly request (and recommend) that brides bring no more than three guests with them to their appointment. If however, you’d like to bring more, please do contact us prior to your appointment so we can make arrangements.

What to bring to your appointment...

We recommend wearing nude underwear to your appointment and kindly request that brides do not wear fake tan as this can easily transfer on to sample dresses and stain. Shoes are provided in-house to help brides visualise their final wedding day look alongside their chosen gown.

How to prepare for your MRS W BRIDAL appointment...

For new brides, it can be worthwhile checking out the curated selection of international bridal designers that we stock at MRS W, but not mandatory! With the likes of Bon Bride, Lola Varma, Bowie Rae, NEWHITE, Vagabond Bridal and Prea James awaiting your perusal, scrolling the MRS W Instagram or exploring our website will give you much more of an understanding of the modern wedding dresses we offer and have available in the studio.

How long is the first appointment?

A bride’s first appointment at MRS W is two hours in duration. Not only does this allow for enough time for us to fully understand what you’re looking for, but it provides ample opportunity to try on a number of bridal looks (often more than the standard five to six options)! The gowns we stock on a permanent basis are showcased on our website, grouped by designer. But, it’s worth noting that we do also offer the option to call in dresses for appointments from some of our designers. We just ask that brides request these a minimum of two weeks ahead of their appointment (please note a loan fee will be applicable for this service).

What happens during the first MRS W appointment?

From the get-go we’ll make sure your experience with MRS W BRIDAL is relaxed, personal and supportive. Our private bridal appointments allow for brides to have the entire studio to themselves, providing you with the space to freely explore the coveted MRS W designer offering available and to take full advantage of the personal service offered by our one-to-one fitting and dedicated stylist. Whether you’re looking for expert advice or want us to throw some wild card dresses at you, we’re here to make your modern wedding dress journey what you’ve always dreamed it would be.

We’ll touch base in advance of your appointment to ensure we have an understanding of the type of bridal look you’re after and to gain a sense of your personal style. On the day of your appointment, you’ll be beckoned into our minimalist Whitley Bay bridal studio and welcomed into the tranquil bridal environment that resides within. Candles will flicker, while music gently surrounds your experience as you’re greeted with Prosecco on arrival. And, before we start, we’ll chat a little before heading over to the rails to look at the gowns themselves.

Do you offer customisation?

Luckily for brides, the designers we work with at MRS W BRIDAL really encourage customisations so that brides don’t feel like they’re wearing the same dress as everyone else.

What happens next?

We’ll start by taking measurements. It’s worth noting that the designers we work with at MRS W are all made-to-order, meaning we’ll take your measurements and then order to the closest dress size, using that particular designer’s sizing chart. We will, of course, always discuss with you and agree what size dress to order. In order to place your dress on order with the designer, we’ll require a 50% deposit upfront (unless your dress is a rush order - then we will ask for full payment upfront). The remaining balance is then due in 90 days. Please note, we do offer payment plans to our brides as we understand planning a wedding is costly. Once we’ve submitted your order to the designer, we’ll then keep you updated on shipping dates and confirm the estimated date of arrival.

Let’s talk alterations...

We’d always advise our brides to book their alterations appointment as soon as they order their dress. At MRS W we work with you and our recommended seamstress to ensure all dates align and your dress is ready for your first fitting appointment. Although our seamstress is not in-house, we work very closely with her to ensure your dress is perfect.

Please note that the cost of the dress does not include any alterations costs. These are to be paid directly to the seamstress. As standard, the seamstress will allocate three appointments for you and you will be asked to place a £50 non-returnable booking fee (to avoid any no-shows during their busiest seasons). This will be deducted from your final balance. We’ll also provide you with a code to give to the seamstress when booking, so that they know we’ve referred you and then any questions or concerns can be dealt with seamlessly.

Once your dress has arrived in store, we’ll get in touch to let you know before inviting you back to try on your gown. After this final appointment with us, you’ll take it away with you for your first seamstress appointment. If your dress arrives way in advance of your alterations appointment, we are more than happy to store this for you.

Please note that as the final fittings are not done in-store at MRS W BRIDAL, brides will collect their dress - once altered - directly from the seamstress.

MRS W BRIDAL post-wedding follow-up...

Post-wedding we’ll be in touch via email to see if you’d like to take part in a mini interview that will be featured on MRS W BRIDAL’s online journal. Here at MRS W BRIDAL we love hearing our brides’ stories and discovering the best moments of their day. We’ll request your final wedding photographs and send over a Q&A for you to complete in your own time, once the wedding events have finished.
